1. Riding the Zipline in Montezuma. What a great feeling to fly through the air! A must do event! This one was great with the longest cable running about 1,000 feet.
2. Snorkelling trip to Isla de Tortuga. A quick boat ride from Tambor, this trip had us spotting leatherback turtles and humpback whales while en route. Once there, you can snorkel off a tiny piece of land (hardly even an island). The kids saw a puffer fish and sting rays. The crew bbq'd us a fabulous mahi mahi lunch. Other highlights were the peccary named Philomena and baby howler monkey Kimba!
3. The Finca Rosa Blanca Country Inn. This amazing boutique hotel is set among the hills of Santa Barbara de Heredia just north of San Jose. The most unique place I have seen, filled with great art and all sorts of nooks and crannies to sit and read or just enjoy the scenery.
4. La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens. Butterflys, frogs, snakes, orchids, waterfalls!! Enjoy the stunning scenery as you walk down pathways and up and down stairs. Tons to see in the Cloud Forest!
5. The people! There was not a local Costa Rican that did not treat us well. What a super bunch of people.

Stunning Casa Pacifico
The majority of our trip was in a spectacular private home we rented near the village of Tambor and right next to the resort where they filmed the reality show Temptation Island.
The 6 bedroom home was just gorgeous! Situated right on the ocean with rainforest on one side and another luxury home on the other. It was a great way to vacation and much more relaxing than staying at a hotel...highly recommended. If you are interested you can rent this home through Luxury Link.

Pura Vida in Costa Rica
Vintage clothing and general crazy mom life recently took a back seat as we trekked to Costa Rica.
What a trip!! The country was amazing full of stunning scenery and the friendliest, kindest people you could ever meet.
The first night was spent at the beautiful Marriott in the capital city of San Jose.

We enjoyed a delicious tapas dinner accompanied by Flamenco guitarists and dancers!

The next morning we met up with the rest of our friends and travelled to Tambor via Nature Air.

Jose picked us up at the tiny "airport" and drove us the bumpy road to Casa Pacifico. The house was absolutely stunning!!! Pics to come soon.

Vintage Frightful Frocks starts soon!
The kick off for the VFF event is tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 17th, but blog readers will get a little taste of some of the items to come from bonton*vintage. In our household Halloween is a big event and planning just the right costume takes time!! I hope you will be inspired by something to get your costume started off on the right foot!

A perennial fave is always the Hippie Costume. Just add afro, shades, granola bar sandles, some love beads and you are stylin'!!

This sugary sweet vintage 80's prom dress would make the best Pink Faerie costume!! Wings, tiara, wand, maybe some white fishnets and pink high heels finish it off!

Dressing like a Bad Girl is so much fun!! Remember Olivia Newton John in Grease...or go more 80's Madonna style. This is a great looking, (but not hot & bulky) biker jacket made from quilted satin, just perfect for a party with lots of dancing. Add a pencil skirt, tight spandex pants or skinny jeans and ultra high spikey heels of course!

We love this stunning Alfred Shaheen Asian style gown with flowing kimono sleeves! So classy and sexy with it's high leg baring slit!!
Lots more to come!!

Love the simplicity of this black wool knit dress. Great with some long chains around the neck - or try with some fab high black boots! The sleeves are the special touch on this one!

No one makes a fine jersey knit quite like the Italians!! I adore the funky floral print with geometric touches. Great fit with a bit o' swing around the hips!

Great 50's flair - full skirt, cropped jacket with gorgeous neckline and a fabby geometric print in purples & pinks!
These are all on the block starting Sunday, Sept. 10th!
PS - I am starting to pull out the Halloween stuff - lots of weird, wild and wacky fashions!! I adore this time of year!!!!!!!!!!!

The most anticipated issue of the year...
...yup, the Vogue September issue is on-line. Woo hoo!!!! Love the ads, the trends, the styling!! So much fun! Have yet to find the hard copy in my neighborhood.
On a side note, yesterday I found the most amazing shoes in a little thrift tucked in the middle of nowheresville, Alberta! Kids and I did a day trip and I scored 2 pairs of peeptoe 1940's shoes and some sizzlin' red patent mod shoes. Pics to come soon!!

Dusting the cobwebs off the old blog here. With Fall just around the corner, I am gearing up for back to school kidlets and more time to do other stuff that I enjoy!

A fab 70's vintage Lanvin shirt dress in great print!! Love the op art feel of this black and white material. Easy to wear. Great size 14 too!

Another Lanvin. This one is silk and has a lovely birds and flowers print on pale gray. Great hip detailing with teeny tiny pleats. Size 8 - but generous!

I heart these boots!! Vintage 80's at it's best. Lipstick red suede, metal toe kicks, belts & buckles and slouchy and pirate-y!! Size 5

Ultra hot!! Tan suede and leather. Ankle pixie boots with straps - size 7.5!!

Reality Tube

Wow...spring is a whirlwind of activity around here with soccer almost every week night, volunteering at school, garage sales every weekend (yay!) and the other miscellaneous goings of of what we call life.
Big season finales are upon us...my faves are the reality ones. Terribly disappointed that Terry didn't win Survivor last night. Looking forward to watching Amazing Race later in the week.
My kids and I only have one thing to say....GO HIPPIES!!!!!!!!!! LOVE those guys. I hope they end up with some kind of travel show of their own. My boys have noticed how they really enjoy life and are so kind to everyone they meet in their travels. Real life role models...I think they totally ROCK! And they wear vintage, so I like them even more for that!
GO HIPPIES!!
