Spring Rituals!

I can feel it in the air! The birds have been positively cheery, the gophers are running around in delight and the newspapers are full of church sales!! Every junk hunter eagerly awaits Spring when all the sales begin again...well for those of us who don't live in balmy year round sale conditions anyhow!

My "spidey senses" are tingling and I just can't wait to stand in line on those slightly chilly Spring mornings outside my favorite church sales, big cup of Timmy's in hand!

What will I find?????? You can rest assured I never come home empty handed! Stay tuned!!

Perfectly Pink in Jackie O Style!!

If I was the kind of girl that wore suits, this would be my absolute favorite for Spring!! The color is just the most perfect kind of pink. Such cute styling with a double breasted front and slightly oversized buttons. Just so darn sassy!! It can be found on ebay for a song!!

Am hoping our snow keeps on melting, cause I am just so over winter right now!!

Inspired

Life has been a whirlwind of researching schools and trying to figure out what is best for my 9 (almost 10) year old son. The wonderful world of vintage clothing has taken a backseat as my brain tries to process way too much information on schools and learning styles!!

Last night we went to an information meeting for a Fine Arts school. As I sat there and listened to the presentations given by the principal, students, teachers and parents, my eyes welled up...I knew that this was the place for my son!! It is heaven...a place where uniqueness is applauded, a place where the kids feel like they fit in, a place where you are encouraged to explore the arts and incorporate them into the core subjects, a place where everyone knows your name (or is that Cheers!!)

I wish we would have known about this wonderful school a year ago. It would be easier to get in at the Grade 4 level when the school begins. I will be calling for the application interview as soon as I finish typing this.

Of course, all the wonderful vintage stuff that I could never find a home for would now have one!!!!!

From Film to Fashion

I am sure that many of you fashion lovers are like me, and love to watch certain movies just to see the clothing!!

One of our VFG members Hollis of Past Perfect Vintage has written a fabulous article entitled From Film to Fashionon how costume designers in film have influenced our fashions of the times.

I promise you will just love some of the vintage clothing featured in her article. Simply delicious!!

One of my personal faves is Givenchy for Audrey Hepburn! I would love to hear some of yours!!

Va Va Voom!!

The color combination of pink and black is just so perfect!! One of my very faves, so I am having a hard time letting this fabulous 1950's halter dress go. But as I need shopping money for my upcoming Seattle trip with the girls, on the auction block it goes. I really hope it ends up making a trip to VLV or a swanky gala somewhere in this world cause it's a dress that has to be seen!

So I bring you my Top Five Reasons I love this dress!

1. Pink and black, duh!
2. Halter - my favorite style!
3. Shelf bust - can you say sexy!!!!!!
4. Beading - I have a thing for embellishment of any sort!
5. Full skirt - any chance to wear a huge crinoline and be ultra girly is a good thing!
